The LCD was commercialized in 1960's for use in calculators and wristwatches, but
is now most commonly found in notebook PCs. LCDs have also expanded into desktop monitors
along with other innovative and exciting digital applications In the future, the TFT-LCD
will emerge as the most widely used display solution, because of its high reliability,
viewing quality and performance, light weight, slim/compact size and environment-friendly
features. It will be used in various areas such as television sets for home, monitors for
medical equipment, car navigation and entertainment systems, avionics instrumentation,
mini notebook PCs and hand-held computers. Future technology developments in the military
and in aerospace sectors will also fuel the growth for the TFT-LCD market.
